QotD: Liar Liar

What is the biggest lie you've told?

I remember when I was about 7 years old, I was eating oranges with my older sister (she was 13). I accidentally swallowed an orange seed and I started to flip out. She told me that I could never drink any liquids ever again or else an orange tree would grow out of every hole in my body. Lying liar who lies!!

Very, very disturbing

I don't know why I am horribly disturbed by this. It has made national news, too.

Right next to the hotel where the young pregnant woman was found dead is the Starbucks I go to almost everyday. The hotel is located right next to the mall!!! We passed by there this morning. It's so bizarre how the hotel is still open for business.

While in church today, I just cried and cried for this young woman. There is no solid information that she was murdered. It just says her death was suspicious.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing about pregnant women dying. It takes a lot out of me...

I haven't been myself at all today.

Hazelnut Biscotti

Ingredients:

• nonfat cooking spray
• 3 tablespoons light olive oil, such as Bertolli Extra-Light Tasting Olive Oil
• 1 egg, lightly beaten
• 1/3 cup hazelnuts, toasted, skinned, and coarsely chopped
• 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:

• Preheat oven 350 degrees F. Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
• In a small bowl, combine olive oil and egg until well blended
• In a large bowl, combine hazelnuts, flour, sugars, cinamon, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the egg-oil mixture to form a dough, kneading by hand as needed. Form into 9x3x1/2-inch log. Place on a prepared pan
• Bake for 20 minutes
• Remove from oven and place on wire rack; cool slightly, about 20 minutes.
• Return to oven and bake and additional 10 minutes
• Slice diagonally into 1/2-inch-thick slices.
• Reduce oven temp to 330 degrees F
• Bake, cut side down, and additional 15 minutes
• Cool completely on wire rack

Per serving: 83 Calories!

As per your request! :) I hope you like it! I loooove biscotti. I mean love, love it. I used to buy Nonni's. Anyway, the directions seem a bit tedious, but it really isn't. I actually typed out the instructions word-for-word from The Best Life Diet. (Well, I left out some nutritional info.) An awesome friend of mine gave me this book as a gift, and I am loving everything about it. Love love love it. In fact, I recommend it!

Juicing

Apples

I had a three pound bag of uneaten apples sitting in my fridge for almost two weeks. Wasting food is one of my pet peeves, yet I always seem to do it. BUT it's mostly fruits and vegetables that go to waste in my house.

When I do my grocery shopping, I shop for two weeks worth of food, so I normally buy fruits and veggies thinking we are going to eat them all. Nope, not in my case. (Trying to change this habit! I can just hear it now, "You know how many starving children are in Africa?!")

Thank goodness I have a juicer. It's the fastest, easiest, and healthiest way to get rid of fruits and vegetables in mass proportions. All the while, I'm making delicious drinks.

I want a new juicer though. This one in particular. It's pretty pricey and supposedly the best on the market.
